iranian rug inspired grid

here is my final for my etching class. the project was to create 3 related prints, the theme i choose was the middle east. the print with the 3 figures is a self portrait, its me in some elaborate costuming standing in a worship-like stance, because the middle east is very spiritual. the other print making up the checker board thing going on it inspired by an Islamic tile...and finally the border is made up of prints that depict the whirling dervishes ritual done in Turkey. the assemblage is meant to mimic the look of an Iranian rug. and as a final token to the luxery of middle eastern culture i choose to rework the prints in a veriaty of techniques and materials to honor is elaborate, decorative, and mysterious style of art...enjoy!....also check out the close up shots i will be posting
